Staffwell National: Summer is not a bad time to hire attorneys
A lot of firms assume summer is a bad time to hire attorneys.
It is not.
Good candidates are still moving.
What slows a search down is not the season itself.
It is the way the search is being run.
1. Internal coordination gets slower.
Decision-makers are out of office.
Schedules are harder to line up.
Feedback takes longer than it should.
That alone can slow a search down.
2. Interview scheduling starts to slip.
A candidate who is available this week may not be available two weeks from now.
Summer worsens calendar friction.
Firms that move efficiently get the best shot at the strongest candidates.
3. Weak follow-up becomes more expensive.
In a slower season, it is easy to assume a candidate will still be there next week.
Sometimes they are.
Sometimes they are interviewing elsewhere, taking a vacation, or simply losing interest.
That is why summer hiring can feel harder than it needs to.
Strong attorneys are available.
What gets in the way is slow process and weak follow-up.
If your firm is hiring this summer, reply with the role you are looking to fill.
We may already be speaking with attorneys who are relevant to it.
